Postdoctoral Researcher Recruitment Announcement from Professor Lan Tian's Research Group at the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences, Wuhan University

The Urban Computing and Visualization Team of the School of Resources and Environmental Sciences at Wuhan University (WeChat Official Account: wurg2016) is planning to recruit 1-2 postdoctoral researchers to engage in research related to urban big data analysis, population geography computing and simulation, etc. We sincerely invite young talents with professional backgrounds in Geographic Information System, Human Geography, Computer Science or Mathematical Statistics to join our team.

Lan Tian, a professor at the School of Resources and Environmental Science of Wuhan University and an honorary senior researcher at University College London, mainly focuses on research in the field of population geography computing and modeling. He has published numerous high-quality international academic papers. His research achievements were selected as part of the Nature journal's 2021 highlights series and were covered by The Economist. He has been included in the national-level youth talent program and the Hubei Province's high-level talent plan.

I. Application Requirements

Have obtained a doctoral degree in the past three years or have defended a doctoral dissertation and are about to obtain a doctoral degree, with relevant professional knowledge background and research experience.

2. Be capable of independently conducting scientific research, have strong abilities in writing academic papers in both Chinese and English, and have a good foundation in computer programming.

3. Be familiar with relevant theoretical technologies and quantitative research methods such as geographic information systems, spatio-temporal big data analysis, complex systems, social network analysis, natural language processing, and web crawling.

4. Those who have published high-level academic papers, participated in national-level projects, and have research experience in related fields such as population geography calculation, social mobility, and spatial mobility will be given priority.

5. Be in good physical and mental health and comply with the relevant regulations of Wuhan University on postdoctoral management.

II. Job Responsibilities

Participated in the execution of the National Natural Science Foundation of China project led by the co-supervisor and independently completed the research tasks assigned by the co-supervisor.

2. Publish academic papers in authoritative domestic and international academic journals and conferences, and participate in important academic conferences in the field.

3. Assist the co-supervisor in applying for research projects.

4. Participate in the construction of the research team led by the cooperative supervisor and assist in the management of postgraduate and undergraduate students in the research group.

III. Job Benefits

The annual salary starts from 250,000 RMB (before tax, including the part from the research group). For exceptionally outstanding candidates, the salary will be negotiated. IV. Recruitment Procedures

2. Candidates who pass the initial screening will have an online interview with the co-supervisor. After reaching a preliminary agreement, they need to provide a recommendation letter from their doctoral supervisor.

After passing the online interview, those who receive the initial admission intention from the cooperative supervisor should submit their materials to Wuhan University for evaluation. Those who pass the evaluation will proceed to the university-level interview.

Those who pass the university-level interview will be required to undergo a physical examination at the designated hospital. Those who are qualified can then follow the procedures of Wuhan University for applying to be a postdoctoral researcher and enter the station.
