Job Description

Professor Gao Li from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Wuhan University is seeking 1-2 postdoctoral researchers for his research work. The recruitment is open-ended until the positions are filled. We warmly welcome young talents to join us!

Gao Li, a professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University and a doctoral supervisor, was selected for the National Overseas Young High-level Talent Introduction Program in 2022. He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree in 2012 and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018. From 2018 to 2021, he conducted postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University in the United States and at the Technical University of Munich in Germany. Before returning to China, he taught at the University of Houston in the United States and was funded by the NSF of the United States. He joined Wuhan University in February 2024.

Professor Gao Li's research interests lie in functional analysis and quantum information. His main focus is on non-commutative analysis, quantum entropy inequalities, quantum functional inequalities, quantum spin systems, and their applications in quantum computing and quantum information processing. To date, he has published over 20 papers in journals such as Adv. Math., IMRN, Phys. Rev. Lett., Comm. Math. Phys., and IEEE Trans. Inf. Theor.

I. Research Directions

The research topic of our group is the intersection of functional analysis and quantum information, focusing on the mathematical theories in quantum information processing. We utilize non-commutative analysis tools to solve mathematical problems in quantum information processing, and also develop commutative analysis theories based on the background of quantum physics.

II. Application Requirements

The age is generally no more than 35 years old.

2. Have obtained a doctoral degree in mathematics, physics or related fields within the past three years, or have completed the doctoral dissertation defense and are about to obtain the doctoral degree at the time of application.

3. Solid foundation in mathematics is required. Applicants who have published high-level academic papers and have research experience in the field of quantum information will be given priority.

4. Be in good physical and mental health, with enthusiasm for academic research. Meet the relevant requirements for postdoctoral management at Wuhan University.

III. Job Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the PI, carry out independent research work. Publish academic papers in well-known domestic and international journals and participate in important academic conferences in the field.

2. Assist the supervisor in applying for research projects, manage the research team, organize academic reports and discussion sessions. Also encourage and support the postdoctoral researcher to actively apply for research projects on their own.

IV. Job Benefits

The annual salary starts from 250,000 RMB (before tax, including a portion from the research group). For exceptionally outstanding candidates, the salary will be negotiated and they may be recommended to apply for the "Hongyi Postdoctoral" program of Wuhan University, which provides key support for postdoctoral researchers. The specific salary will be in accordance with the relevant regulations of the university, and can be supplemented by various postdoctoral funding projects at the national, Hubei Province and Wuhan City levels.

During the period of stationing, one can apply for the qualification of associate senior position. If one meets the school's talent introduction policy and fulfills the conditions for leaving the station, one can apply for a teaching position at the school.
