Jiangnan University

Located in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province—a city on the shores of Taihu Lake and the geometric center of the Yangtze River Delta economic zone—Jiangnan University is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, listed in the "211 Project" and the "Double First-Class" initiative.

The university currently has 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It covers 11 academic disciplines, including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, liberal arts, law, economics, management, education, art, and interdisciplinary studies. It houses 9 postdoctoral research stations, 13 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 3 professional doctoral degree categories, 35 first-level discipline master’s programs, and 22 professional master’s degree categories. Two disciplines—Light Industry Technology and Engineering, and Food Science and Engineering—are included in the national "Double First-Class" construction list. Nineteen disciplines have been ranked among the "2024 Soft Science World First-Class Disciplines," with "Food Science and Engineering" ranking first in the world for six consecutive years, "Textile Science and Engineering" ranking second, and "Biological Engineering" ranking third. Eleven disciplines, including Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Biology and Biochemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Environmental Science and Ecology, Computer Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology, and General Social Sciences, are ranked among the top 1% in the ESI global rankings. Among them, Chemistry ranks among the top 0.1‰ globally, and Agricultural Sciences ranks among the top 0.01‰ globally.

#### I. Recruitment Targets

##### (1) Distinguished Talents

Distinguished talents refer to experts and scholars with an excellent academic reputation, academic leadership, world-class academic standards at the forefront of global research, and strategically influential figures with international academic impact; or academic masters in their respective disciplines or fields. They should be in good health and able to fulfill their agreed job responsibilities.

##### (2) Leading Talents

Leading talents should generally hold a doctoral degree and have formal teaching or research positions in universities, research institutions, or corporate R&D institutions. They must possess solid professional knowledge, profound academic attainments, and forward-looking academic vision in their disciplines. In the past five years, they have achieved landmark research results recognized by domestic and international peers in their fields, with academic achievements, contributions, and influence acknowledged at the national level. They should also be able to serve as core leaders to gather a well-structured, high-quality teaching and research team with strong problem-solving capabilities. For science and engineering disciplines, candidates should generally be no more than 45 years old; for liberal arts, no more than 50 years old.

##### (3) Young Top Talents

Young top talents should generally hold a doctoral degree and have formal teaching or research positions in universities, research institutions, or corporate R&D institutions. They have emerged as promising talents in their fields, achieved high academic accomplishments or research results recognized by peers, and demonstrated innovative potential and certain social influence. For science and engineering disciplines, candidates should generally be no more than 40 years old; for liberal arts, no more than 45 years old.

##### (4) Outstanding Talents

1. Candidates with full professor titles from universities or research institutions: For science and engineering, generally no more than 45 years old; for liberal arts, no more than 50 years old. Candidates with associate professor titles or below: generally no more than 37 years old. Their academic performance in the past five years should exceed the average level of corresponding positions in the same discipline at the university.

2. Doctors or postdoctoral researchers from universities or research institutions with outstanding research achievements and great development potential in their fields: generally no more than 37 years old.

Outstanding talents will undertake teaching and research tasks based on disciplinary development needs.

##### (5) Urgently Needed Talents for Other Professional and Technical Positions

Talents with doctoral degrees engaged in fields such as computer science and big data, information technology, auxiliary teaching in large-scale instrument platforms, editing, library science, medicine, and architecture: generally no more than 37 years old.

##### (6) Full-Time Postdoctoral Researchers

Talents with excellent academic and moral records, good health, generally no more than 35 years old, and who obtained their doctoral degrees within the past 3 years.

#### II. Talent Benefits

Based on the applicant’s academic level and development potential, the university offers competitive salary packages for distinguished talents, leading talents, and young top talents, with specific terms negotiated on an individual basis. Additionally, corresponding policies and benefits are provided in terms of research infrastructure funding, housing subsidies and settlement allowances, research platform construction, and team recruitment support.

Postdoctoral researchers are offered a basic annual salary system.

#### III. Policy Support

##### (1) Support for Talent Programs and Subsidies

1. Priority is given to recommending candidates for provincial talent programs such as the Jiangsu "Double Innovation Plan" and "Jiangsu Distinguished Professor." Selected candidates will receive corresponding funding from the provincial finance.

2. Priority is given to recommending candidates for Wuxi’s "Taihu Talent Plan," with selected candidates eligible for project funding ranging from 100,000 to 10,000,000 yuan.

3. Eligible talents can apply for relevant subsidies in accordance with Wuxi’s policies, including *Ten Measures to Strengthen Support for Outstanding Young Talents in Wuxi*, *Implementation Measures for Talent Classification and Recognition under the "Taihu Talent Plan"*, *Implementation Measures for Service Guarantees for High-Level Talents under the "Taihu Talent Plan"*, and *Implementation Measures for Livable Security for High-Level Talents in Wuxi*.

##### (2) Other Supports

1. Full-time talents recruited to Lihu Campus, Dongjiu Campus, and Xiakewan Campus may be included in the corresponding career establishment in accordance with university regulations if eligible. Those recruited under the university’s second-level appointment (personnel agency) may apply for establishment procedures if they meet the university’s and superior authorities’ requirements for establishment in the future.

2. Eligible full-time talents recruited to Lihu Campus can apply for transitional housing on the campus. Those recruited to Dongjiu and Xiakewan Campuses can apply for corresponding rental or housing purchase subsidies if eligible.
